Art 100 - Print Making / Stamps

Please bring to class on Tuesday the 17th of Febuary...

-ink pad (these can be found at local craft stores for a couple of dollars - no need to buy expensive ones)

-non textured paper ( I will have basic copy paper in class - your sketch book paper will be fine)

-2 potatoes - or erasers

-cutting knife/ paring knife / x-acto knife

-a mirror

We will be cutting one or two different stamps.
Be thinking of shapes or symbols that symbolically represent you, and your personality.
You will be creating a self portrait using these symbols/stamps.

Art 100 - project 2- step 3

step 1 - draw image using a grid system, and graphite
step 2 - use watercolor/acrylic to recreate the image

step 3 - cut paper

bring the following supplies to our next class
1. rubber cement
2. small scissors (embroidery - manicure-to cut small shapes),
or x-acto knife(if using a knife bring a cutting board)
3. colored card stock, magazines, or paint chips
4. heavy sheet of paper/mat board to mount your art to.

if the background of your image is predominately
one color buy a sheet of card stock that color to use
as the background.

Project 2

Our Class has moved to a new room CAR05....please leave your name in the comments below, so I will know that you got this message.
This is a 3 week project - bring all supplies to work in class!
Chose a piece of Art that you admire; copy or print a minimum size of 8"X10" .
(examples are shown(but not limited to) in a post called Famous Works)

above is one of my favorite pieces by Marc Chagall.

You will recreate the piece in 3 different types of medium
Pencil
Paint(acrylic or water color)
Cut Paper

Create a grid on your image that is 1"X1"
Pencil
Create a grid that is 2" X 2" on a 16" X 20 sheet of paper.
One square at a time transfer what you see enlarging it to the 2" block.
Paint
using the same grid transfer to size of your choice.
(If you are using water color, use water color paper)
(the fabulous Alex @ Artist and Craftsman Supply donated a bunch of water color paper.)
Cut Paper
you may buy colored paper(not construction paper), or paint your own sheets of paper to cut, or use magazines, or paint chips.

This Project will demonstrate the importance of drawing what you see, and observing the relationships of shapes and forms.

Bring to class Monday March 17, 2008
A selected work of art, printed out in color to size
8-1/2"X 11".
Purchase colored paper (not construction paper) up to 10 colors that are represented in the image.
bring scissors, pencil, heavier sheet of paper for background,and rubber

cement.
