rendering styles

There are many different techniques of architectural rendering.

freehand sketches
technically drafted
computer generated

There are also many types of mediums that can be used in rendering
graphite
color pencils
markers
watercolors
paints
computer

It is important to find your own style....
some renderings are very conceptual, quick, and loose -

(this is the type of rendering I like to do)

other styles are still very artistic, but with much more details, and time spent.

and then some are very involved and full of accurate details...these renderings can take weeks to finish.

technical illustration - haunted house

it's the most wonderful time of the year!!!! Halloween - my favorite holiday! Your scary assignment is quite frightening...... but you now have the basic skills needed to survive. You are to design the scariest haunted house possible...... bad proportion and rotten scale are a must...along with loads of decrepit asymmetry, and hard crooked lines.
drawing list includes.....

front elevation of your exterior 1/4" = 1'-0"

one point perspective
of the scariest interior room.....
an orthographic of the site plan
....include graveyard, zombies, ditches, and cauldrons.
all drawings must be rendered
using markers and prisma color pencils. you may use any color paper. presentation quality a must...
these will be on display for the entire college to see...
if they dare!
due date October 28th

technical illustration

I have enclosed a variety of images in this post that show the variety of styles, and mediums that are used in architectural rendering. The ability to sketch, and illustrate your designs is extremely important when conveying your ideas.

quick conceptual sketches w/color

black and white images can be just as effect design tools when conveying architectural concepts

rendering small areas lets you add more details

professional renderings

The rendered floor plans below read much nicer when color is added.
